what you can learn from the english

here is a list of what i have learned in england

never call someone who is scottish english unless if you wish to die by overdosing on fist to the mouth

it is all right to put up warning signs on the road to advertise the dangers of driving near the elderly

exit signs are much cooler

mr. darcey definitely doesn't drink enough tea

the english like to put symbols on different parts of the keyboard just to mess around with americans

the danish like to scream bacon at random times throughout the day

ultimate Frisbee is the most underrated game ever created

the recipe for making an elder casey

start by mixing in austin, cade, and a little bit of connor, add a dash of nick and  a pinch of jason and top it off with a kilt and ground haggis. and there you go you have an elder casey

atheists are more fun to prosylite (is that spelled right) to than nearly anyone else on the streets of manchester

don't ever try to find a patch of grass that isn't actually just mud painted green. . .  cuz it's not going to happen

so other than that list of fun facts i actually have an incredible story for you all

i placed my first book of mormon!!!!!!! (insert fan fare with confetti a few explosions backed up with fireworks cue the person doing a backflip on a motorcycle all to the background music of josh groban singing the final countdown)  yes i feel that incredible about it. oh wait michael how did you place a book of mormon i thought you were in the mtc. your right imaginary person that i use to emphasize my own stories i am in the mtc but me and elder casey did not place just one book of mormon i say we placed not one, not two, but three books of mormon!!!!!!! (insert fan fare with confetti a few explosions backed up with fireworks cue the person doing a backflip on a motorcylce all to the background music of josh groban singing the final countdown insert fan fare with confetti a few explosions backed up with fireworks cue the person doing a backflip on a motorcycle all to the background music of josh groban singing the final countdown this time with a chorus of gasping accompanyment)

in the england mtc they take you out to go street contacting every friday. they told us that they don't do this in provo because it wouldn't be as. . . .  effective. so we got to go out to manchester and have our first experience doing actual field work. it was amazing i was a little bit timid at first because i was like oh hey there are a bunch of strangers with cool accents all over the place and i'm supposed to talk to all of them?! but elder casey had already done this because he served a mini mission in ireland so he got me right into it. we started stopping every person we could see trying to get them to set up an appointment and to give them a pass along card if they wouldn't. it was really hard at first because i couldn't believe that no one really wanted to talk to us about their eternal salvation but we kept going. at one point we had gotten kinda discouraged because we had been going for about an hour since we placed the first book of mormon and since then no one had even let us finish the our opening sentence. they would just look at us and then hurry past as soon as they saw the book of mormon or as soon as we mentioned church or eternity or prophets. so me and elder casey decided to say a prayer for charity and guidance because to get our spirits back up and as soon as we finished i noticed a man walking toward us. i jumped up to stop him!  and he walked right by us. me and elder casey laughed saying that that would have just been too amazing if it was the first person we talked to. but then the second person we talked to was very interested and asked if we could teach him more and explain to him questions he's been  having he accepted a book of mormon and set up an appointment!!!. the lord loves to humble us and it's times like these where you can realize he also has an amazing sense of humor. our last contact was with a man who said that he had been looking for god his entire life but he didn't know where to find him. we smiled and explained to him that he could find god and that god loved him and afterwards he actually asked us for a book of mormon before we could offer it. we couldn't set up an appointment because he was homeless and we had no information to give the missionaries but we gave him a map to church and he said he would be there.

it's amazing what  kind of people the lord prepares for us.

k i'm nearly out of time again so i just want to end by saying i love you all and i would love to hear from those who can’t mail

sincerely elder jarman
