April 10th, 2012 {"president's calling! ahh quick... umm tell him i can't talk because i'm currently... dead!"}

dear people who still occasionally use facebook, well needless to say things
have changed a little bit around here, hence the me writing on tuesday
instead of monday. with transfers president usually makes all the leadership
calls on monday and then we receive the transfer information on tuesday then
move (if we move) on wednesday. so monday came and went and we thought we
were in the clear since monday was over. we were wrong. he called us up at
about lunch today and long story short elder day is being moved and being
made a zone leader and i'm going to be taking over as district leader. (this
is the point where i started freaking out and screaming and banging my head
against the nearest half a couch). so we've been running around all day
trying to get everything sorted before elder day heads out tommorow which
has made the day pretty hectic. i'm going to miss elder day because he's
taught me so much and we've become realy good friends but i am glad that i
get to stay in epsom for at least one more transfer.

so in other news we did missionary work this week! (insert numerous shouts
of approval and a raucous ruckus of applause) the highlight of my week was
definitely that we were finally able to get in touch with the whites again
after nearly a month of missing each other and fluke cancelled appointments.
the good news is that they are just as dedicated to changing their lives and
becoming active members now as they were before, so we set up a week by week
monthly plan with them of scriptures they're going to be reading and even
gave them a checklist for their morning and nightly family prayers (guess
who i
learned that from :)   ) they're super excited and becky started crying
when we gave her a picture of the savior along with another picture of the
temple. they want to go so bad it's amazing. one thing that has been
reaffirmed over and over for me in my mission is how amazing the power of
the atonement is. i mean with the help of Jesus Christ and his gospel people
can honestly change their lives. it is impossible for anyone to get so lost
and so fallen that they cannot be touched by the saviors love because "The
Son of Man hath descended below them all"
(D&C 122:8)  i've been spending a lot of time lately studying the doctrine
of hope. as defined in preach my gospel "hope is an abiding trust that the
lord will fulfill his promises to you". i love that definition. hope is
trust in the lord. when you think about that you realize it would be a
little bit stupid not to have hope. there's no one that we can trust more
than our heavenly father and his son, Jesus Christ, and the holy ghost. as
moroni tells us in ether 12 "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with
surety hope". that is just so cool.
believing in god gives us SURE hope. i love this gospel i love the book of
mormon and i know that the gospel of jesus christ is true and that he can
through the power of his atonement help and change any person that has ever
lived EVER.
i love you all and i'm grateful for your support.

with love
Elder jarman

ps. i don't have time to write a ps sorry
