March 19th, 2012 {"no elder you can't cook that pasta with my lazer gun"}

dear hooligans and all those that have ever participated in an act of
holliganery, this week was an exciting week. it was that kind of week were
the work was hard but the fruits were sweet. in other words i spent all week
in the mission field (surprise!). the beginning of the week was a little bit
hectic because we had a leadership conference and a zone wide district
meeting (that was not actually a zone meeting). so i spent a considerable
amount of time outside of my area working on exchange further up in london.
we had a great teach with kerry on wednesday after the meetings were done.
we had planned on teaching her about the virtue of patience and
supplementing that teach by watching uchtdorf's talk on patience. and when
we first got in and were just talking to her about her week she started
going off about all these different things that have been happening to her
that have been trying her patience. (see the connection) so we were just
like hey! that's what we planned on talking to you about YAY! (while
simultaneously giving the spirit high fives behind our back (DISCLAIMER the
spirit does not have a body of flesh and bone and therefore cannot give high
fives the before mentioned statement was a figure of speech and in no way
should be taken literally under any circumstances) kerry is an amazing
person and has started studying the gospel by herself for at least an half
an hour a day each day and even uses lds.org to help her find more
information on subjects she's interested in! and she's just an investigator!
it's kind of humbling because i think about how before my mission i could
hardly ever find time to study even though i had everything before me all
the time. some good and bad news i have is that zade had to move back up to
oxford earlier than he thought so were no going to be able to continue
teaching him. the good news is that he texted us and said he was taking the
book of mormon and the materials we left him and planned on studying it out
more while he was there. so we referred to the elders up at oxford and were
happy that he's still progressing but i'm kinda disappointed i'm not going
to be able to continue teaching him, he was such a cool guy!

i think now is a very inconspicuous time to place a * where absolutely no
one will notice it.

so now i have a bit of a challenge for everyone who will read this e-mail
firstly go to this url (
http://www.lds.org/study/prophets-speak-today/unto-all-the-world/many-ones-t
aught-by-apostle-visiting-england?lang=eng&query=reaching+ones+england

) and watch the clip of elder bednar. then consider the advent coming up in
a couple weeks we commonly refer to as general conference. we have a great
opportunity to learn from prophets and apostles in the coming weeks. we need
to realize just how great of a blessing this opportunity is. i can also tell
you that this general conference will be a bigger and greater missionary
opportunity than any conference we've had before. i can honestly promise
everyone who reads these words that there is someone you know who can
benefit from participating in conference this year. i don't know how or what
you need to do but i do know that you need to do all you can to help one
fellow son or daughter of god find peace and joy from the messages shared at
conference. i cannot stress this enough and i know i'm kind of a rambler
when i write but this is something that has been impressed upon my mind for
a while now and i feel i need to share it with you. i know that if do all
that is in your power that the lord will bless you with opportunities to
help others receive the gospel into their lives, and that you will find
peace and happiness in doing your duty in this way.

i love you all and i love this gospel.
and i love being a missionary

blessing of general conference for this session. i hope this helps you and
others in your missionary work.
