March 12, 2012 { of the two french people i've been aquainted with, only one was from beliguim}

terp uf tu murning te ya,
so i'm thinking i would like to start this weekly epistle with a sentence
that both fulfills no purpose and ends with the word giraffe. in other news
i did missionary work this week (wooooot!) we had an amazing week filled
with both challenges and the little thing that happens after challenges
called miraculous success! we picked up two new investigators this week. one
of which is an eighteen year old middle easterner who is currently studying
philosophy at oxford named zade. needless to say zade is really really
really smart. we met him knocking and he invited us in to ask us a billion
different questions about the nature of god, life after death and how
judgment could possibly work. it was kinda a fun experience in that he would
go at us about how some doctrine doesn't make any sense intellectually such
as the trinity god. and then after he finished we would just look at him and
say ya your right that doesn't make sense. . . . because it's not true. and
then we'd explain the doctrine of the godhead and he would just be like. oh
ya, that actually makes a lot of sense. it was just an added testimony to me
that this gospel is truth and that to the honest seeker of truth the gospel
will touch them both in their mind and in their heart. we're meeting with
zade again on thursday and i'm super exited to help this young (because he's
younger than me) man progress. we also met a born again christian woman
named laura who had a lot of questions about the book of mormon. because she
believed that the bible was the end of revelation and that we can't receive
revelation any more (you see a lot of this weirdness). but as soon as we
started reading from the book of mormon with her (3 nephi 11) her entire
countenance changed. it was amazing you could actually see the spirit and
power of the words working on her. she accepted the book of mormon and not
only invited us back but asked if she would be able to bring a friend to the
next teach! (this is the point where all rm's whoop really really really
loud) we also were able to see dominic this week again. this was a
bittersweet meeting because he told us that becky has had a relapse back
into her addictions. we knew that this was something that was most likely
going to happen because of the depth of her addiction but it still is hard
for her and for us because she had come so far before it happened. but we
were able to make a plan with dom to help becky continue on the road to
recovery and i know that the power of the atonement can heal her and help
her through this difficult time. that's one miracle that i've been able to
witness time and time again on my mission is that the atonement works for
everyone. it may be hard and the road may be full of pitfalls and struggle
but with the saviors help we all can be cleansed no matter how far down
we've let our pride take us. the future is brighter than sunshine ;) this
gospel is true and i know that the savior lives and that he loves us more
than i ever have before in my life. i love you all and i love hearing from
you.
with love

ps. has anyone every realized how good fog smells?
